Production Logo

This was our final production logo. We started of with thinking we may do a animated piece or some thing rather complex but we thought we would do some different but was very simple to create.
-We brain stormed on what to call it and we decided that piping productions would be rather fitting as the logo would be written on to a cigarette.
-.We then decided we was going to write on it with black marker pen making the logo big and bold and will also make it easy to read for the audience.
-We then had to decide what part we was going to write on the cigarette as not all of it would have fitted and also how we was going to write on it whether it was going to be in capitals or lower case.
-We finally decided to write piping in lower case on the cigarette and productions on the knuckle of my hand so you would see Piping Productions.
-We used the cigarette and knuckle as it fits in with the smoking and violence with in the film.

We found that smoking a cigarette with marker pen on is not particually healthy and did make me a little ill but the overall piece was great after a little editing and blackening the back ground of it.

Filming update

This is our last day of filming.
We decided that we needed to film what happens when Lizzy walks into the house.
So we filmed her walking in the door meeting her friends who are having a drink they then go out where they meet the rival gang.

Editing Updates!

This is the process that we took when editing the shots that we had for our film opening.

These are the shots that we edited together. To do this we simply dragged the shot that we wanted down from the project media, dragging the end of each shot to cut it or make it slightly longer. This consists of jump cuts as the fight goes on for a while we used jump cuts to show the passage of time.

This is the uncopy righted sound that we added in . We did this by downloading it and then adding into the suitable scenes of which we selected it for . we had to shorten some bits and copy and paste more bits in to make it longer so that it would fit in . we also had to  rewind a bit to make it fit in with the rest of the music .

This is the narration that we inserted we used this narration because i thought it was the best technique to get the audience to feel like they know the audience. We found trying to insert this a little tricky but once we had a little play and got the hang of it we was really able to use it to its ability.

This is the speech and sounds that was picked up on the camera we kept this as we thought it gave a good affect int he fighting scenes as you can hear the shouting and the screaming of the rival gang we had this in the back ground really quiet.

This is the text that we used. we searched through the internet for so many fonts and this one caught our eye we thought that it matched the genre and setting perfectly.

This classification does not contradict our target audience because our target audience is under 35's, however, we have decided on a classification of a 15 because the is imitable behavior, violence and bad language. This has not received a higher classification because there are no graphic scenes, racial/ prejudiced discrimination or any relation to illegal or harmful drugs, (positive or negative) apart from tobacco.

Filming updates

We filmed at Caistors equestrian center to film this part we could really get many different shots as we was only aloud out side of the riding box. but the footage we got was rather good. With a few of the close ups we got i think this will be a successful piece of our film opening.

Filming updates

This is the first day we filmed we did the filming in three different areas around Market Rasen.

First- we filmed down Chapman Street first this was of Lizzy walking down the road this consisted of a long shot of her walking from behind from the front and a close up on her feet. We did this about five times each so we had a wide variety to choose from.
-Then it was of her walking to the door and a anonymous man opening the door we remembered the 180 degree angle.

This was very successful the lighting fitted very well and the angles of the cameras where perfect.

Second- We filmed randomly down the high street this was not intentional but we think it looks very good it is a hand held shot of us all walking down the high street.

This was very successful too the light was just setting and it showed the passing of time from the first section  of filming to the next.

Third- This was filmed in a little park near the primary school we thought this was suitable for the location of the fight. we managed to get plenty of establishing shots we got this by having the camera stood on top of a climbing frame this created a a brilliant establishing shots of the fight. We also did close ups high angled shots and mid shots this is to create a tense feeling through out the fight.

This was also successful as by the time they reached the park it had got dark which shows that time has passed and that all of these events happened all in the same day.
My over all thoughts about this day of filming was that it was very good and we filmed some brilliant footage.

Locations

This is Caistor Equestrian Centre, where the first scene will be shot.
The second scene will be shot of the main character/characters coming down this road.

At this point, the main character will reach the front door of this house and then there will be a jump-cut to the next scene.
Here is where the characters will enter the fight scene.
This is where the final, fight scene will take place which will then end with a black out.

We will now be filming at Caistors riding school as the weather is affecting the ground which means we are unable to ride the horse. So the introductions is now not at Jess' farm it is at Caistor. This place has an in door riding school which we hope to be using.

Draft Story Board.

This is our first draft of our story
board for our two minute film opening.

This is a establishing shot that we are going to film using a backwards zoom to show the area where the first scene is located.
This will be an long shot of the main character riding the horse with classical non diagetic music in the background and her mother speaking to her.
This will be a close up on Elizabeth feet walking down the road. The music then becomes more up beat and follows through.
This is a long shot of her walking down the road this shows the passage of time.

There will then be an over the shoulder shot of her knocking on the door and her walking into the house.
When the door closes the title of the play appears
'Fisticuffs'.
This is an long show of her friends walking down the road with the music still running through with narration.
This is a long shot of the characters and rivals having a fight this will be a short clip with up beat music and narration.
This is a a freeze frame of her friend Stella who she describes with narration with up beat music in the background.
This is a freeze frame of her friend Becky shouting at some one where she is describe with the use of narration.
This is a freeze frame of Jodie hitting some one where she is hitting some one and being described with the use of narration with up beat music carrying on.
This will be a freeze frame of Tiffany with still the description of her using narration and up beat music still used she will then punch into the camera and that is where it ends.

Blurb & Synopsis

Tag Line: Fisticuffs - The art of fighting with the fists.

Blurb
Leading a double life is a talent that comes all too easy for Elizabeth Smith; one - drinking champagne celebrating her successes with her aristocratic - yet highly controlling family acquaintances, and another drinking Special Brew with her less noble associates in the depths of the urban jungle on the other side of town. However, when her life is knocked out of balance when her devoted crew become aware of her disciplined, middle-class existence, which way of life will she choose?

Synopsis

Elizabeth Smith comes from a very comfortable, middle-class background, however, to escape the pressures of her parents great expectations, she forms an alter-ego that goes by the name of Lizzie. Lizzie is feared by many but known by few; her 'crew' are a group of passionate and loyal girls from the estate who are notorious for their affinity for violence. They view Lizzie as their first in command. However, when they learn of her home life and compliance to her parents' demands, they insist that Lizzie must stay true to herself and choose just one way of life. In order to do this, however, she must first learn who her true self really is.

What are your hobbies? Horse riding and running.
What t.v programs do you like ? Holly oaks and I'm a celebrity.
What are your favorite movies and Genre? Green street and the genre of Crime.
What are your favorite things about this film and this specific Genre? I like it because it contains a lot of action and violence that i find very interesting and keeps me focused on the film rather than Rom Com's that i do not like.
Why don't you like Rom  Coms? Because i just find the lovey dovey rubbish boring and i am not kept entertained by the boring cheesy comedy with in it.

Marketing
How and where will you market you film? Online, Facebook, Twitter and any other social network that will make it advertised to the public and target audience. This is because are target audience is aimed at 16-25 years and this will help us to get more interest in our film.
The film and programs that i would advertise my film opening for and between would be films such as Adulthood, Green Street, Football Factory, Train Spotting Etc. So that it is promoted to our specific target audience.
I would advertise my film in the cinemas in the half term and the holidays as there will be a greater number of teenagers going to the cinema which will give are movie greater popularity.

Analysis of a students opening!

MELCS
-Mis-En-Scene
-Costume
The main character that is shown is a young teenage girl that is going to school/college she is in her own clothes that are formal which shows that she is in a 6th form or college. where as the unidentified character is wearing clothing that covers there identity which shows that they are not wanting the audience to know who they are and also it looks like they are linked to the female character that we are introduced to.

-Lighting
All the way through this film opening it is natural lighting or high key lighting i'm not sure if this is intentional.
The natural light shows you that these situations can occur at an time of the day and that you should be aware.

-Actors
The female actor is a student at a school/college she seems to like to be on her own and be in her own world which could suggest why this covered up male has targeted her. The male actor is very suspicious and and all of his movements are small and delicate and think this is because he does not want to be noticed by this female that we are introduced to. Her body language is timid and small she doesn't have much of a facial expression this connotes that she may be rather anti-social.

-Make up
The female actor wears heavy eye make up this connotes that the dark colours around her eyes could reflect the dark situation that she is in. There is no sign of a low cleanliness which shows that she may be well of. Also with the heavy make up this may connote that she may be trying to attract the opposite sex.

-Props
There are not many props used in this opening in my opinion they are kept to a minimum. There is the use of a mobile phone which i think is typical in a students opening as in any of the openings with this genre usually pretend to be on there phone and start to be followed. There is also the use of a cigarette but you don't  see who is smoking this may be a link to the male character that is following the female. Also the use of the photographs of the female which shows that this male character is stalking her.

-Setting
The setting is at a school which means that there is a lot of people that can be witnesses to what this male character is intending to do but with this it shows that he must have a link with the school for him being able to get in to the school. Having this setting shows that how dangerous the day to day sequence of going to school can be so dangerous.

MELCS
-Editing
There is the use of The cut this is where two things are simply put together to create a sequence.
There is also the use of the fade which i think is a good use to show the movement from one camera shot to the other.
There is the use of cross cutting as you watch the female and the male at different places at the same times which shows that they will eventually meet together at some point.
There is the use of the cut away this is the insertion of an event to fill in the gaps to create the mood and to fit in with the film.
In mt conclusion i think that these edits are all use brilliantly and i cant see many faults and it creates a great atmosphere.

MELCS
-Camera shots
There is a panning shot this is used to how the area that the opening is based in.
There is the long shot used to show her walking in to school .
There is a close up on her walking in showing that she is being watched.
There is also the use of the point of view shot this connotes that she is being watched through the blinds.

MELCS
-Sound
There is the use of non-diagetic sound all the way through there is no ambient sound or diagetic sound i think the use of this is great because it builds up the tension and suspense in the beginning which is what we are slightly trying to create in are opening but are will be more up beat a rocky.

CMINTS
-Characters
The female character that are shown is well dressed and in formal clothes which shows that she is in some sort of education. There isn't many character introduced in to the opening apart the female character that we assume is the main character and the hooded male.

-Iconography
There are a few sign that are unique such as-
The hooded male this shows that there must be some significant reasons to why he has not revealed who he is. This fits the genre crime as in a crime genre film the characters are all hooded and usually try to hide them selves to prevent them from getting in to trouble.

-Narration
There is a form of Non-linear narration used in this opening as it looks like some thing is going to happen to the female rather quickly and this opening scene may be a flash back.

-Theme
There is a theme i think i would strangely call it stalking? or being followed as you can see that this male is trying to contact the main character as he seems to appear where ever she is.

Enigma
There is a series of enigma such as-
Who is the male character?
Why does he want the female?
What is the connection between them?
And why all the secrecy?

Inspirational ideas!

My group have looked at plenty of film openings and we have taken a shine to this one. In the opening scene it is created by the use of Linear narration, Freeze frames and Titles. In are opening we are having narration over the top of the hole opening scene describing who the main character is and who her friends are and how she is associated with them. We are also containing freeze frames on the main characters when the narration is talking about them there will also be a title of there name that appears on the freeze frame and the person that played this character. As you can see the opening scene of trainspotting is like this but did already have ideas similar but we got the main ideas from this idea which has helped us come up with are final idea for are film opening.

Stella,Jodie,Becky,Tiffany and Stacey-
-Working class.
-Aged 16. (social class D/E)
-Rough background.

This is Billie Blake she is playing the main actor(Elizabeth) in are film opening.
This character has a double life one of which is very proper and she has to be have
well mannered in front of her family But behind closed doors she acts like she has
a double as she has a second life and gets up to lots of different mischief. she is a
very out spoken girl and is the main leader in her crew!

I am playing a part of Elizabeth's friend Stella she is very outspoken and
influences Lizzy to do a lot of bad things that she was not bought up to do.
She likes to get involved in fights and to be the dominant one.

Jess Hordon is playing the character of Becky she is loud mouthed and
from a bad background like the other characters apart from Elizabeth.
Becky also likes to get in to trouble and to kick up a fuss just like the rest of them.

sophie Clarke plays the character of Tiffany who doesn't stand for any
trouble and has a bit of an attitude like the other characters that are played
she causes havoc and mischief and doesn't care about the consequences.

Jade Clarke is playing the character of Jodie she is just like
the others and loves to get into trouble with them.

The Rivals!

This is Ebony Daley who plays in the Rival gang.

Sarah Brown.

Vanessa Chow.

Kerry Green.

All of these people will play a part in are film opening but they will not have
much of a part they are there to create the mood of the fight.
